The Bar Council’s Bar Mentoring Service launched its e-Mentoring Scheme in July 2016 – a platform built to facilitate the mentoring relationship between barrister mentors and student mentees. This initiative is intended to assist students from non-traditional backgrounds in accessing the Bar, and also to improve public legal education. This is particularly important to the profession, as it will inevitably result in a wider representation of society at the Bar.
This short 20 minute webinar gives you an overview of the Bar Mentoring Service’s e-Mentoring Scheme, with particular focus on its objectives and aims for its first year. The webinar highlights the importance of technology in ensuring correspondence between mentoring pairs are in line with the Bar Council’s Safeguarding Policy, in increasing access to the profession and in facilitating the administration of the scheme.
